NETBALL Namibia (NN) has released the names of players who will compete in the first edition of the DebMarine Namibia Pent Series tournament in Windhoek next week.
The competition will see five countries – Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Swaziland – battle it out for ranking points.
The five-day championship will be held at the Israel Patrick Iyambo Police College in Olympia.
Namibia’s senior national netball team made its return to the International Netball Federation (INF) world rankings after competing in the Africa Senior National Netball Championship in Kampala, Uganda in June this year.
They are now ranked 37th out of the 38 countries by the INF.
It is hoped that the Pent Series, organised by NN with sponsorship from DebMarine Namibia, will help the Namibian team to improve its position both in Africa and globally.
NN on Wednesday announced a squad of 12 players and three coaches who will represent the country:
Defenders – Glynetthe Kazonganga, Emmy Kutako, Cherlyn Muesee and Diana Tjejamba
Midfielders – Anna Shipanga, Uehengisa Tjozongoro, Uzuvira Uatjiua and Rosemary Kotjipati
Shooters – Anna Kaspar, Dorkas Tjipetekera, Vendjihonga Katjaimo and Zaja Tjiroze
The coaches are:
Manuelle Tjivera (head coach), Morne Pienaar (positional coach) and Jatjinda Toetsie Tjihero (assistant coach).
